Finding the right shoes for you baby
Linkies Baby Shoes are designed to protect your baby's little feet and help with healthy foot development. Our baby shoes are designed for newborns-18 month old babies.
Baby feet are precious
Babies feet are very different to our own. A newborn baby's feet have no arch and are made up of only soft cartilage- no
wonder why their feet are so sensitive! Newborns require footwear and socks that aren't too constricting so that their feet develop normally and aren't moulded into the wrong shape. Our Linkies slippers and booties are best for newborns.
Even when infants start crawling and moving around, their feet remain very delicate and sensitive. Protecting their
feet from harsh surfaces (e.g., concrete) with an non-restricting pair of baby shoes can help to eliminate pain and discomfort for baby. Cuts, scrapes and even bruises from hard surfaces should be avoided where possible. Our shoes are designed to not 'squash' precious little feet or cause unnecessary damage while providing comfort and protection.
On the go
Once babies start walking on their own their shoes will need to be more supportive. Ensure that you choose the appropriate age size for your child as shoes that are too small or too big may cause problems with the healthy development for your child's feet. At this age babies are usually unable to detect when their feet are in pain or even complain about it. Ensure that your child's feet remain comfortable.
The best shoe fit for your baby is a shoe thats sole measures 1cm longer than your baby's feet. (See our size guide at the top of this page for shoe measurements)
Putting the right foot forward
Never put your baby in shoes that are too big or too small (remember to allow a 1cm outer sole length measurement).
Cut toenails straight across to avoid early ingrown toenails or pain while learning to walk
Shoes with padding help to protect little feet.
Avoid letting your baby wear wet or damp shoes. Natural sunlight is best for drying them out.
