Baby showers are a great time to catch up with family and friends before you become very busy! Why not go that little bit further and make it an afternoon to remember. Here are some fun baby shower game ideas that we've come across (and been a part of at other baby showers!). These are sure to keep everyone entertained and giggling for the afternoon...
Guests have to try and guess how big your baby bump is. Everyone cuts a piece of string or ribbon to the size that they think will fit around your belly.
2. Playdough Play
Everyone needs to mould the playdough into something that baby will use. e.g. a bottle or dummy. The mum-to-be determines who wins a prize for the best creation.
3. Jellybeans in the Bottle
Guess how many jellybeans are in the baby bottle. The closest guess wins.
4. Super-Woman Nappy Changer
Grab some dolls, some nappies and baby all-in-ones and see who changes the nappy on the doll the fastest. (The winner may come in handy once your baby is born!)
5. Baby Stats
Start a sweepstake. Everyone can pay $1 to enter and guess baby's weight, length and date of birth. Once your baby is born the person who had the closest guesses wins the money.
6. Bottle Scullers
Fill up baby bottles with your guest's choice of drink and see who can finish their bottle the fastest.
7. Baby Food Guesser
Blindfold or put different varieties of baby food in containers and get your guests to guess what flavour each one is.
Put 20 baby and mum items on a tray and show your guests. Take the tray away and then get them to write down how many they remember.
9. Who's Who
Get every guest to bring a baby photo of themselves. Everyone has to try a guess who's who in the photos
10. Nursery Rhymes
Start off a nursery rhyme and get your guests to finish the rhyme. eg. Twinkle, twinkle little star, ____ _ _______ ____
11. Baby Animal Namer
Write a list of animals and get guests to try and write down the names of their babies. eg. Swan= cygnet, dog= puppy
12. Celeb Baby Match
Pin numbered pictures of celebrity's babies/children to a board and get your guests to write down which baby or child belongs to who.
13. Baby Alphabet
Get each guest to write down a baby item that matches each letter of the alphabet. The guest that completes the list first wins.
14. Don't Say 'Baby'
Give each guest a nappy pin when they arrive. Let them know that the aim of the game is to avoid the word 'baby' during the baby shower. If one guest catches another saying the word 'baby' then they can take their pin from them. The person with the most pins at the end of the baby shower wins the game.
15. Poopy Nappy
This game can be used as an add-on to the 'Don't Say 'Baby'' game. Wrap up several tissues into a nappy shape and add them to the pins (you can use paper as well if you find it works better). Add a small amount of mustard or chocolate to one of the nappies. At the end of the shower you can find out who got the poopy nappy- it may be the person that won the 'Don't Say 'Baby'' game!
16. Name that Song
Create a CD or compile a snippet of songs on your iPod with the words 'baby' in them. Get your guests to guess which song it is and who sings it.
17. Present Guesser
When mum-to-be is opening the presents guests have to guess what each present is before it is opened. The person with the most correct guesses wins.
18. Obstacle Course
Create an obstacle course in the back yard and time guests to see how long it takes them to get around it while pushing a pushchair. This game is absolutely hilarious!
19. Pregnant Cupcakes
Bake some cupcakes and add a little toy 'baby' into one of the cups. When your guests arrive at the baby shower let them know that one of the cupcakes is 'pregnant'. One of your guests will enjoy finding the 'pregnant' cupcake.
20. Red or Black?
Gather a few small, wrapped up presents onto a mat. The mum-to-be turns over a single card. The first person has to guess if it is a red or black card. If they get it right they can pick a present from the mat (they can't open it yet though). If they get it wrong they don't get a present. Everyone gets a turn at guessing. Once everyone has had a turn start from the beginning again. If someone got a present in the last round and guesses wrong this time then they have to put their present back. We suggest that you let every guest have three guesses.
