For some couples it’s an easy decision, and for others it’s a
little more difficult…do you want to know the sex of your baby before it’s born or leave it to be a surprise? If you’ve had a baby you will know for a fact that the first time around is enough of a surprise anyway. Nothing shocks the mind more than giving birth (or watching someone give birth for that matter).
The problem is now on everyone but the parents-to-be. What colour clothing/toys/shoes/bedding do you buy for the baby? I’ll look like such a terrible, unimaginative gift giver if I turn up with a couple of plain white baby bodysuits. The answer is: yellow.
You no longer have to dig through the massive pink and blue piles in shops because I actually think they’ve gotten the message: Stock more yellow and less pink and blue. Even it out a little to cater for everyone. If you sell out of something blue customers will go for yellow on a whim.
Yes, it is getting easier to shop for the surprise baby. The range of baby gear now available is getting better too. Some of the yellow outfits are too cute for words. I’ll admit that I’ve even managed to reform, no more pink and blue for my friends’ babies. I’ve even managed to be the proud bearer of an adorable YELLOW baby shower gift- what a relief.
So next time I may decide to spice things up a little, a touch of apple green maybe, poppy red (very vogue), bright orange or something delicious like silver or gold. Either way, yellow is most definitely here to stay...pink and blue will always hold a special place in my heart though.
